Regional Science Fair 2023
The science department held the annual science fair on February 1st, 2023. We had 500+ students participate in 21 categories ranging from Animal Sciences to Translational Medical Science experiments, and all topics in between. There were over 260 projects. Teachers did an outstanding job supporting students as they navigated the independent research process. The science fair process incorporates all the Portrait of a Graduate skills, developing resilience and critical thinking skills. We had numerous members of the business community support our fair by judging the student projects. There were over 90 winners between 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
There were 22 projects first place projects that were nominated to represent Chantilly HS at the Regional Science Fair that was held at Robinson Secondary School March 17-19th. Chantilly had two Grand Prize winning projects. Those students will be invited to participate in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held in Dallas, Texas from May 14-19.
Congratulations to Frank Chang, Stephen Tsai, Jason Yoo (Environmental Engineering) and Aayush Shivashankar (Plant Sciences). Any student that received a first place award at the Regional Fair is invited to attend the Virginia Science and Engineering Science Fair (VSSEF) in April.
