- The Fairfax County Board requires that high school students earn four history and social science credits for graduation.
- In addition to these required courses, students may elect to take any of several one-semester or two-semester electives, including AP European History, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP Psychology, Political Science, and Sociology.
- Content courses for ESL students are taught by members of the social studies department.
- A variety of supplemental instructional materials and technologies complement the basal textbooks adopted for the required courses.
