Ms. Collins Recognized with an FCPS Excellence Award!

a photo of programs for the excellence ceremonyCongratulations to Career and Transition teacher Sue Collins who was recognized in the "Impact on Others" category at the 2018 FCPS Excellence Awards Ceremony!

The FCPS Excellence event was held at Fairfax High School on October 16 and was attended by Superintendent Dr. Scott Brabrand, members of the FCPS Leadership Team, members of the FCPS School Board, Chantilly High School Principal Scott Poole, and other distinguished guests. Ms. Collins was recognized during an informal reception and a formal ceremony. The following excerpt from his nomination packet was read while she received her certificate from Dr. Brabrand, Assistant Superintendent, Region 5 Rebecca Baenig, and members of the School Board.

Ms. Collins is the employment and transition representative for Career and Transition Services at Chantilly High School where she develops meaningful partnerships in the community to support work-based learning for students with special needs. In 2017, she hosted a business appreciation breakfast that was highlighted in The Connection Newspaper; was recognized for community teamwork in student success ENDependence Center blog; selected employers to receive the Virginia Division on Career Development and Transition Employer of the Year Award and Martha Glennan Disability Inclusion and Equity Award; and nominated students that served as delegates at the Youth Leadership Academy and I’m Determined youth summit. Ms. Collins is committed to partnering with the community and assisting students with wrap-around transition supports so that every student experiences postsecondary success.
